Team McCarville of the Fort William Curling Club has been selected to sport green and gold at the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts scheduled for January 28 – February 6 in their hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Northern Ontario’s women’s provincial was cancelled last week when the threat of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 led to concerns about upholding the safety of participants and the integrity of the competition. Days later the province re-entered a modified Step Two of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen, ending all hope of hosting a tournament.
McCarville was selected by the Northern Ontario Curling Association based on their standing in the Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS). The team comprising of Skip – Krista McCarville, Vice – Kendra Lilly, Second – Ashley Sippala, Lead – Sarah Potts, and Coach – Rick Lang are ranked tenth in Canada and recently earned a bronze medal at the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.
