After a successful pilot season, the Northern Ontario Curling Association is extending its commitment to engaging the next generation of curling participants by providing young advocates a platform to influence the future of the sport and the strategic decisions considered by their regional governing body.
The Youth Advisory Committee is tasked with making recommendations to NOCA's Board of Directors and Executive Director on matters of importance to youth curlers including, but not limited to: increasing appeal and participation amongst youth in club programs, school curling activities, and playdown competitions.
NOCA's 2022-2023 Youth Advisory Committee will comprise of nine individuals between the ages of 15-24 and will meet virtually throughout a 1-year term. The inaugural committee created three sub-committees focused on "Recreational Curling & Schools", "Competitive Curling", and "Marketing" though the new committee may re-assess their desired areas of concentration.
Interested candidates must submit an application to the NOCA Board of Directors via Board Chair Hayley Smith (hayley.smith@curlnoca.ca) by Thursday June 23, 2022 at 12pm ET. Any or all of the following acceptable promotions will be reviewed by the full Board of Directors: Bio/Candidate Statement (max. 300 words), Photo (headshot), Video (max. 1 minute), Resume.
