The Fort William Curling Club will play host to the inaugural true Northern Ontario Scotties Provincial Championship. This year sees Northern Ontario have the opportunity to have its own berth in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Feburary 14-22, 2015. In the past, the NOCA teams have competed against teams from the OCA to represent Ontario at the Scotties.
In 2010, the CCA Member Associations passed a motion which provided Equal Opportunity to Access Canadian Championships which means that Northern Ontario now has the opportunity to have its own team in all national events.
The winning team this weekend will compete in a pre-qualifying event against the teams from NWT and Yukon for the 12th spot in the national field.
The first draw this weekend is at 10:00 am Thursday. Opening Ceremonies take place at 3:00 pm. Results will be posted on the NOCA website.
